Easy to assemble and install. So far seems to be keeping the birds away.

We had our first significant line of thunderstorms this morning since I bought it. 1488 strikes. Looks like it’s working.

Replacement sensor worked perfectly for my WS-1001-WIFI. The installation was a little tricky since the access to the connector on the printed circuit board isn't great, so I removed the PCB assembly (which eliminated any need to solder wires). This would have been a slam dunk if they had used stainless steel screws (like they did everywhere else on the entire sensor array), but the screws were rusted, which made removal difficult. I got three out of the four removed and just obliterated the fourth when trying to grind the head off -- just melted the plastic into which it was screwed. The PCB housing was secure with just three screws, so no problem. Aside from the badly weathered array housing, everything is as good as new

At first after getting it and checking placement , this did look rather grim as here in South Africa all houses are brick and concrete. But once mounted up above house roof, great signal, wifi perfect. Setup so easy. Great product, easily recommend.

The part was packaged well and the instructions for installation were easy to follow. Problem is solved. Thank you.

So far so good for the first two weeks

The original one stopped reporting humidity so I bought this. My setup is 433 MHz (Ecowitt version for use in South Africa), but this just replaces the humidity and temp sensor so works fine on the 433Mhz version. Delivery was expensive but speedy.

Things got crossed up a bit during setup when trying to connect to Wifi, but tech support walked me around the sticking point and now it’s working great.

Easy to set up the station and the monitor and connect to Ambient Weather. The monitor presentation is clear but would like the option to hide the multiple ongoing rainfall totals. Overall, a good unit with all the information needed at a very reasonable price.

Have not had a lightning storm since purchase.

The hardware is amazing. It works right out of the box. Is pretty well built (the rain funnel seems like it has tabs that could break easily).

And there is a real live honest to goodness instruction manual!!! Nobody includes those anymore, and I love the paper book. Except....

But oh my goodness, the instructions need work. There is sooo much detail in this book, and yet critical things are horribly missing. Maybe this is obvious to everybody but me, I had no idea the rain sensor sits on top of the post. There isn't a picture anywhere of where that thing mounts. Honestly, there isn't a picture of how this whole things looks once it is mounted on a pole (but there are 10 pictures of screen shots I hardly needed for way deep menu choices on the screen).

The rain sensor - nobody in the world could ever get to the top of the mounting pole to view that bubble level. There needs to be some way to visually level the thing from viewing below.

There needs to be a way to mount the main unit with the pole facing any direction, and still achieve north pointing. I mounted mine on an abandoned telephone pole in my yard. The way the arm works, I had to angle the unit back toward the pole (forcing it to be closer to the pole with interference) to point the thing north.

In the instructions, I love the check list early on. That is fantastic - all the things I need to do to make this work and program the tablet. Except there are a couple of steps that refer to the calibration menu (zeroing the rain and setting the relative barometric pressure), and setting the station location. When I go to those pages - oh man, there is virtually no way to figure out what I'm supposed to do. By hook or crook I figured it out. There needs to be a crystal clear description of how to make those adjustments. I understand the "footnotes" for each menu choice have details weather station aficionados understand and need. But for somebody new to this, it is a crazy foreign language.

I applaud the manual. Please never get rid of it. Have somebody actually use those instructions to start using this unit. I think you will consider a rewrite.

The tablet is not terribly intuitive. The buttons feel cheap (seriously horrible user feedback), and it takes forever to get used to what each button does. I think I must have pressed return to the main menu button button a couple dozen times. And spelling things with the arrow keys is just plain flat out evil (worse than a PS4 or Roku or Apple TV).

And here's the strangest thing about this unit - firmware updates with the app are the easiest I have ever seen on any device I have ever used. Seriously - I didn't think I did the firmware update. All I did was touch one spot on the app and the update was done. How do you do that, but have that evil key press on the tablet?

Most of the reviews here say this is easy to assemble. I disagree. I am a master at IKEA furniture and building Lego. And this thing stumped me several times. Basically I had no idea where I was heading. For something with so few parts, this took far longer than it should.

It is great hardware. The unit worked the second I put batteries in it. It has connected to my WiFi with no problems at all. It has added sensors automagically. And the weather data is fabulous.

Just fix those first few hours of trying to assemble and program the thing.
