This is my second Ambient weather station. The setup for the WS-5000 was easy with no issues, both the physical installation and the WiFi setup and other configurations. I purchased the pole mounting kit and extension poles and I'm glad I did. That made installing it much easier. I added an additional indoor-outdoor thermo-hygrometer sensor and a soil moisture sensor. I'm not sold on the value of the soil moisture sensor, but will give it more time to prove its worth to me. The console has been picking up some data that must be coming from nearby neighbors, but neither of these neighbors' sensors are listed on the AWN website or app and they're also not listed on the Weather Underground app. Fortunately, I don't need those 2 sensor channels and I was able to disable them. Overall, I'm very happy with this purchase. The full color display is much nicer compared to the old black & white one.

Process of getting weather station good. A little difficult to set up Wi-Fi but got it to work. We have had it for 3 weeks and is working well. Still learning the finer things about it.

Purchasing and shipment were top tier - simple, quick. I purchased a bird spike for the rain gauge in the WS-5000 station. Birds are dropping all types of stuff in the cup causing incorrect readings. After attaching the bird spikes, the issue continued. After reading about bird control (BirdBeGone) I see that the spikes are too far apart to discourage smaller birds. This kit is designed for doves and larger birds. A typical backyard station has sparrows, finches, mockingbirds to contend with. Why does Ambient sell a poor solution when it would cost pennies to add more spikes? I must say I was disappointed in this accessory considering the quality of the equipment, the monitoring station and the app.
