It was very hard to buy a system of display + two remote thermometer/hygrometers. The company website makes it difficult to find out which displays and sensors are compatible with each other and adequate / not excessive for your needs. Product nomenclature seems haphazard and meaningless. However, the system shipped quickly, came with a decent manual and works as it is supposed to.

Returned one of my moisture sensors because it would not read >30% immersed in water for 4 hrs. Support insisted that I calibrate in moist soil, but there is no way it would go full scale in soil if it would not in water. Support would not replace the sensor under warranty.

I ordered a replacement part recently. It came quickly. I replaced the part and still had problems. I contacted by email and explained what was happening. I was told that a new part was ordered and no need to send the anything back. Waited. Didn’t receive any updates and no part was sent. Contacted them again and was told a new part was ordered and what to do when it arrived. Still waiting. It didn’t take long to get a new part when I was paying for it but having trouble getting weather station up and running when it may have been a defective part. Response have been quick on emails but no action has been done. So I guess I will just have to wait and see if rating will go up or down from 3 stars.

We purchased a WS-5000 and couldn’t be happier. It was easy to setup, and get working in just a few minutes after watching the video. We live at 6,800 ft in altitude in the Rockies, and while not particularly high our weather can and does change very suddenly and quickly. The WS-5000 is keeping pace with the changes easily, as well as keeping us informed. It’s a tad pricey, but worth it. My only fault with it is that it’s white and many HOA’s require them to be painted or camouflaged somehow. I use exterior camo tape off Amazon. You can’t wrap it all but enough to make an HOA happy.

I bought a cheaper brand of weather station years ago and when it failed the company wouldn't even answer the phone, much less help me get it fixed. I had to throw it away. Ambient makes a quality product, better than the "budget" brands. They answer the phone when you call for technical support. If they're busy and you leave a voicemail they call you back! Their customer service people understand the product and will help you fix your problem. My unit's humidity/temperature went out and Ambient sells the replacement component for $30 with no shipping charges, which I think is fair. My unit is 3 years old, but the Winter is pretty brutal where I live. It's so good to know that Ambient makes a quality product and provides customer support and replacement parts when needed. I would encourage you to buy Ambient if you want a great weather station with great customer support (US based).
