Have gone through 3 of these as EDC. House of knives was easy to deal with and quick turnaround. The knife is everything that I expected.

Very smooth opening and locking mechanism. Cuts really well and the micarta green is very sleek. Would definitely recommend it for everyday carry or a gift.

Ok knife for the money. I wouldn't put to any REAL tests of endurance though.

Love this knife!

It's nothing special, and that's what's great! This is a simple perfect sized EDC knife. It's not a showy knife or one that is gonna turn heads but it will get the job done, take some abuse and keeps on flicking. Haven't had a problem with edge retention, only had to touch it up with a rod and have used it everyday since it came.
Totally recommend for a simple EDC.

cassette works as original one, but when I went to store to pick it up I was also going to purchase a silky saw priced at $141.00 when cassette was ordered, the silky saw was now priced at $172.00, a $30.00 dollar increase with no explanation from store employee. This increase is an example to me of just plain GREED. The silky saw was was not new to the store and old stock, and any tariffs (if this is the reason) shoild be applied to new stock brought in to store. It will be a long time before I shop at House of Knives again and will be telling all my friends about this experience and the kind of franchise it is.

It's always interesting to compare the budget version of a knife design to its premium counterpart. It's a way to see if the design really holds up in actual use, and isn't just trading on the prestige of more expensive materials.

Such is the case with the Bestech Ivy in G10 and 14C28N steel. The original Ivy—designed by Polish knifemaker Ostap Hel—is a premium priced titanium framelock. It's a slim folder featuring an S35VN blade hawkbill blade, with Hel's hallmark front flipper serving as the sole opening mechanism. It's an eminently carryable folder that straddles the line between classy and "tacticool".

The budget version of the Ivy—it costs about a third of the premium framelock—features some notable differences. One of the potential ergonomic drawbacks of the original Ivy is the pairing of a framelock & front flipper in such a narrow handle profile. It is very much possible (even likely) for the user to put too much pressure on the Ivy's lockbar while using the front flipper, making it more tricky than it should be to deploy the blade. The budget version sidesteps this issue entirely by being a linerlock and using a more traditional flipper tab for its opening mechanism. This flipper tab has a relatively low profile, so it doesn't really change the Ivy's carry characteristics. This simple change, however, turns the Ivy from an interesting dress knife to a more practical compact folder.

I also like the steel in the budget version of the Ivy. 14C28N is arguably the toughest stainless cutlery steel, which makes it a great choice for a knife with a needle-like tip like the Ivy. It also has better corrosion resistance than S35VN, and despite having lower edge retention, 14C28N is capable of holding a highly stable edge even at very acute angles, so one can compensate for this lower edge retention by optimizing the blade's geometry via reprofiling.

Speaking of the blade, the Ivy technically has a hawkbill blade, but its curve is so subtle & shallow that it doesn't really require a rod-shaped abrasive for edge maintenance or sharpening. All it needs is a somewhat narrow abrasive such as the ones found on the Work Sharp Precision Adjust or Guided Field Sharpener, although a rod-based system like the Spyderco Sharpmaker would still work best. The Ivy's blade is a bit wedge-like on cross-section because of the combination of a sabre grind and narrow blade, but its forward half features a dramatic distal taper so the Ivy is still a decent slicer, though it won't make anyone replace their Delica 4 in that regard. A hollow grind or even a full flat grind would greatly improve its cutting performance, though.

All in all, I think that the Bestech Ivy in G10 & 14C28N is a good cutting tool, not just in comparison to its premium counterpart in titanium & S35VN, but also when considered on its own merits.

This clip should come standard on most spyderco models from Golden. It great looking and fits the knife beautifully (got mine for a para3 crucarta) and is the only aftermarket clip that offers just as much retention than the original spyderco clip with deep carry. Its stupid expensive for a pocket clip but I wouldn’t want anything else in my Spyderco’s which are what I carry everyday.

I love this knife. This is my 2nd Vosteed Racoon. The blade shape is gorgeous. I love that it's all blacked out and I love the blue thumb studs as the only splash of colour. It looks sharp!
Although I underatand that the button actuated liner lock or compression lock is really strong and desirable - but from a fidget factor, the version with the axis bar or cross bar is more fun. Deploying the blade is great with a fantastic metallic sound - but when pressing the button to drop the blade there is little to no audible sound. It's not bad, just not as great as with the axis lock. Other than that it's a really great knife. Ergonomics are good, it's light, that blade shape is so unique. I'd recommend it - but if you can get the same in a crossbar lock, I'd opt for that instead.

Great knife, awesomely sharp! Love the spear point shape and the full flat grind. It has so many utilities and is now part of my weekly knife rotation. I have worn it twice since introducing it and look forward to when it is it's turn to return to my pocket. The handle is also great with a pleasant texture with just the right amount of grippyness.
