Bestech VK-VOID G10 Black (BG63E)
The Bestech VK-VOID in G10 & MagnaCut is the latest iteration of a distinct folding knife design that Steven Kempa—the man behind Vulpex Knives—has been refining over the course of the past few years. That design, as far as I am aware, was first expressed in mass production in 2021 as the Kizer VK1-FL, a titanium framelock with a CPM S35VN blade. A year later, Bestech released the original VK-VOID—a more compact derivation of the VK1-FL—now with a blade made from Böhler-Uddeholm's Elmax steel. This was later followed by the VK-NAVI, basically an updated version of the original VK1-FL featuring a CPM MagnaCut blade.
This newest variant of the VK-VOID trades its titanium framelock body for a steel linerlock and G10 scales and its Elmax blade for a MagnaCut blade. And while I personally consider this as largely a lateral move in terms of materials and construction, this isn't reflected in the pricing: the VK-VOID in G10 & MagnaCut is significantly more affordable than its framelock predecessor. Indeed, it is one of the most budget-friendly MagnaCut folders in the market as of the time of this writing (April 2025), and if the marketing materials and Internet chatter are to be believed, Bestech does a consistently good job in their treatment of MagnaCut.
The VK-VOID in G10 can be opened via either the front flipper or the opening hole, and the detent is perfectly dialed-in for both methods. Fit and finish is excellent—it very much feels like a premium product despite being positioned as a lower-cost alternative to the original framelock VK-VOID.
While technically, the VK-VOID sports a wharncliffe blade, in certain use cases it handles much more like a drop point blade because of the somewhat extreme upward angle of the blade relative to the handle, similar to a traditional kiridashi. This has its positives and its negatives, depending one one's cutting tasks. On the plus side, it is possible for one to get almost the entirety of the VK-VOID's blade length in contact with the material being cut when slicing or cutting or chopping against a flat surface, something that is either very awkward or outright impossible to do with most wharncliffe designs. The downside to this is that it doesn't readily offer the same mechanical advantage inherent to conventional wharncliffes when performing cuts or slashes against freestanding material, or material being held in the off hand (to learn more about this feature of the wharncliffe blade, I recommend watching the video entitled "Evolution of the Wharncliffe - with Michael Janich" on the Knife Life YouTube channel).
All that said, the VK-VOID in G10 & MagnaCut is a great choice for a compact folder purely on the basis of its value proposition. It offers a seasoned and refined design, and is put together exceedingly well using well-treated materials that match or exceed those utilized in much, much more expensive folders. Recommended.

QSP Penguin Micarta Green (QS130-C)
First, it came a day earlier than expected. Awesome!
It’s incredibly sharp! Sturdy. A little larger than I was expecting (but that’s not a negative at all!). I bought two at the same time… happy I did!

This is a knife I both want to carry and put down so I can marvel at its beauty. The craftsmanship is on another level. Runs like a Swiss watch. I feel ashamed having it in my pocket because it deserves to be on display for all to see.

QSP Canary Micarta Denim (QS141-D1)
This knife is a great size for a neck knife or fixed blade pocket carry. I love the denim micarta and it has my favorite budget steel. I also like the added touch of the spiral jimping. Might be a tad expensive for what it is, but overall I'm really happy with it.

CIVIVI Elementum Utility Stonewash Stainless Steel Aluminum Burgundy (C23039B-5)
We're always using utility knives where I work, and I wanted a reliable, light spare so i wouldnt be caught without. It's exactly that, however, I should have paid closer attention to the specs while I was browsing. I wish there was more length on the grip, and/or a hair more of a guard before the cutting edge starts. That said, it's light, sturdy, great fit and finish, and comes with quality blades out of the box.

Vosteed Porcupine G10 White (A2606)
Recently became interested in the world of EDC and small functional knives. I decided to pick up the Vosteed porcupine. I was eyeing up the micarta green version; however, at the time of ordering, the G10 white version was the only one in stock, so I got that one. This knife is awesome. It is so much fun to use and came really sharp out of the box. I also picked up the Kershaw cinder for my keys -- very cool design and also fun to flick around. Overall, house of knives was the best option I could find in Canada and I'm super pleased with my purchases. I find myself wanting more knives now... That green micarta.... Could be worse problems I guess. Haha cheers.

Benchmade Narrows Drop Point Titanium Black (748BK-01)
I first bought the Narrows Mini and absolutely loved it. But I wanted to see if the full size Narrows might be a bit too large for every day carry so I purchased it recently and found it is not too large at all. And now the Mini is languishing in my knife drawer.

Hopefully the mini finds some love for a smaller project but Im very glad to hear you gave the full sized a shot, sounds like it was worth it!

Kansept ODD 21 Blackwash CPM Titanium Black (K1077A1)
Kansept does it again! Feels sturdy in hand, about a 3 and a half finger grip for me. Both deploy methods work like butter, and for a medium size knife that's a big chunk of cpm 20cv. Definitely worth it and feels more expensive than it is!
