It was pretty easy, average speed 37-40 mph, average distance throttle + assist 70 -80 miles, 52volt , 35 amper hour, two batteries connected parralel as well as charging lines

The kit building wizard was a breeze and gave me confidence that the various parts would be compatible. Fast shipping as a nice bonus. The kit contains high quality parts that went on easy and the result is better than I imagined. No instructions in the box, but the YouTube videos and fast responses from support made for a smooth installation.

I converted a Cannondale catalyst with Luna's Bafang BBS02 Mid Drive E-Bike Kit. I had an issue with the throttle not working, but we identified the wiring harness as the culprit and a new one was sent. I love my electric bike!

I bought a Sur-Ron sight unseen, paid in advance, totally unheard of by me. I had the confidence of watching the Luna tear down video of the Sur-Ron to go on, and some other LUNA videos. I was pleasantly surprised when I unboxed the Sur-Ron and rode it, it was every bit as good as LUNA had claimed. It is now my favorite bike, and now has the X Controller which makes it even better. The Sur-Ron owners group webpage has been filled with helpful people discovering how to make the bike even more versatile.

I wanted to add electric assist to my fat tire trike mainly to help me get up hills around my town and music festivals I attend. All my research took me to Luna Cycle and ordering parts and communication was very easy. Returns/exchanges we're handled promply.
The trike has the Bafang BBSHD mid drive motor, 52V 11.5ah wolf pack battery, DPC-18 display, gearsensor, and the mighty mini 30 tooth chainring. The trike is not intended for high speed road or trail riding but casual riding mostly at bluegrass and old time music festivals. The electric assist is primarily for steep hills and the gearing so far seems to be perfect for its intended use.

I upgraded a Specialized Roll Comp X1 with a BBSHD from Luna. Installation was easy (well except for getting the original equipment out of the bottom bracket prior to install).

I initially purchased a large battery from Luna to drive the BBSHD. However, the main purpose of the bike is for commuting to work, which is 7 miles one-way. I subsequently realized that a smaller, lighter battery is more ideal for this type of trip, so I purchased a 52v 6AH 3.3lb battery that is stored in the frame bag. I added a Luna Eclipse chain ring, which gives me a good chain line (and patiently waiting for Luna to restock the 48t sprocket for the Eclipse). Also added is the gear sensor for cutting the motor during shifting.

Overall very happy with the performance of the bike. I typically ride it with a pedal assist of 4 (out of 9), which I programmed to provide 44% motor output, although I may supplement some uphill riding with the throttle. I wouldn't want to ride it for too long with no pedal assist, since the bike was originally 30 lbs and the added motor, battery, and other gear likely adds another 15-20 lbs, on top of some additional pedaling resistance caused by the motor when it is not assisting.

I also purchased the hydraulic and disc brake sensors, but am having some trouble finding a location on my brake handles that allow for mounting of the sensors while providing consistent behavior.

I put the bbs02 and a 52v shark pack on a Cannondale trail 7 during the anniversary sale. I've put about 200 miles on the bike riding it a couple miles everyday to work I get to about 30mph with the small stock chainring and 1300w pulls from a full charge. I usually cruise at about 25 to get more torque. First day I got it I went offroading and got cought in a big rainstorm. I was a bit scared about the electronics because I wasn't sure if it was waterproof but embrased it doing wheelies through huge muddy puddles. I haven't had any problems with the bbs02, shark pack, or Luna cycle and tbh the Luna branding doesnt look half bad. I'd recommend luna cycle to anyone.

08 12 18 First ride out on the Sur Ron Electric MX. What an absolute blast~! I have woods right by my house full of sandy, wet, swampy, bushy, log strewn Florida trail riding. The Sur Ron went through anything & everything with ease. Handles great, plenty fast for trail riding & seems pretty water proof as I got it in pretty deep~! Small logs, ditches & transitions no problem, the suspension is surprisingly good. I'm 5'10" /150 lb & I'm comfortable on it. I went a couple of places I wouldn't necessarily rush into on my 125 Husqvarna because the Sur Ron so small, light & low to the ground that it gives you a lot of confidence. It's not like falling of a full on Dirt Bike that sits so much higher. (farther to fall) I rode about 40 minutes and only used 25% of the battery. Maybe because I'm at sea level and there are only small hills where I where was riding. The bars/stem need raised, it needs bark busters, it desperately needs FENDERS for where I ride or probably anywhere. (Luna, please have some fabricated & make available, everyone will want them) I bought the upgraded light and on high beam it works great. I got the lower gearing but riding it stock for a while. Yes, they are a bit pricey but pretty unique in the market place and so fun~! I'm a 58 year old kid at heart and trying to be sensible with my risk/rewards, so for me this may serve well enough for my play time in the DIRT~! (or sand should I say) My Girlfriend is seriously eyeing it and sitting on it, asking if she can take it out. If she rides it once, I'm pretty sure she'll think pedaling her bicycle is suddenly over rated. I hope this helps anyone contemplating a purchase.

I needed the backpack leash from the kids at Luna to give me a little more rope when my body gets a little further away from the bike when I'm flying through the air. The downhill speed I get from my BBS-HD is the best. Fun Fun Fun!!!

So far I've built two bikes. The most elaborate was converting a Madsen family/cargo bike with a BBSHD motor. This bike went from being the most difficult thing to ride, to one of the most fun! This bike often has up to 4 kids in back, or it's loaded with stuff for the beach. When this bike is loaded it can be more than 500 lbs and the BBSHD pulls it along with ease! The Luna sprocket eliminated dropped chains. I had to be a bit creative to get the big battery on there, but it all worked out great. A few months after completing the Madsen, I built a second bike... the beach cruiser with a BBS02. I couldn't resist the sale price on this unit. Having one electric bike didn't cut it. My wife and I would never want to be stuck on the regular bike... plus nobody wants to go beach cruiser speeds on an electric bike. This second conversion made things fun for both of us. Now we can both get down to the beach fast!

I was diagnosed with a heart condition and told not to ride my Mt. bike hard anymore. I pretty much gave up riding. (which broke my heart a little more) Then 6 months ago I heard of electric bikes and wanted to learn more. After deciding that name brand electric bikes were too expensive, I looked into mid-drive motors. And, of course, Luna Cycle and electricbike.com came up on my searches. What a find of products and knowledge!
I ended up buying the bbshd with the mighty mini chainring and a wolf pack battery. What a blast I've had building and riding my bike. I'm handy, so the build went fairly smooth. (Just make sure you read up on everything. You can't know too much about building your bike.) As far as riding, I feel like I ride the way I did in my prime only I can keep my heart rate down where the doctor wants it. I get a bigger smile every time I ride. As far a being critical of my buying experience, I bought during the summer slam at Luna. Some products were not available when I wanted to order. But they do a good job filling the holes so you don't have to wait too long. If you can plan your build during the off season you will not have a problem. If you need it during the summer you may have to wait on some of the more popular items till they can restock, but even then it won't be long.

until very recently i had no interest in electric bikes...too much of a purist, i guess. then i moved to michigan and discovered they have over 3000 miles of off road trails just for motorcycles. that's when it hit me that ripping thru the woods on a quiet 50 lb machine was way more appealing then buying a heavy loud dirt bike. so i built a BBSHD 52v Luna Wolf package. the build sent pretty smooth for a first effort but i learned a lot mostly from the forum and trial and error. i then bought a longer travel enduro style bike and getting ready to order my second BBSHD mid drive. i leave the pedal assist on level 2/9 or 3/9 depending on the terrain and wether the trail is hard packed or soft. if there is a significant hill i just hit the throttle while pedaling. doing this gives me about 3-4 hour range with the 13.5 battery

The folks over at Luna Cycles are on top of their game. I lost a part off my bike. I searched the internet looking for something to replace it with not knowing the true name of it. I sent a pic of the empty hole where it was and withing a day the Luna team emailed me back and said one is on the way. " I dont know what its called.. I just know the sound the bike makes when it GOES MISSING" lol. But really, Thanks to the Luna team for taking care of me. I will learn to put a dab of locktight on all threads when I'm hitting the trails.
