Bafang BBS02 Mid Drive eBike KIT
I purchased the BBS02 with the Mighty Mini Cube 52v to convert my Kona FS into a school commuter/XC trail bike. Everything was great until the BBS02 wouldn't turn on after just a few weeks. Luna was very helpful in getting the problem resolved and I've been up and running problem free for several months now.

BBS02 Mid Drive Kit with Mighty Mini Battery
I went to noon at the advice of my brother-in-law who has used your product before. Installation was easy. No problem so far. Very happy with the results. I bought Luna strictly for sis. I did not install the brakes that came with the kit because I wanted to keep my road bike as a road bike . I replaced the 23 mm tires with 25’ s. I have been able to keep up with my younger friends on 40 to 45 mile Rides only came up to miles short one time, when I charge my battery in cold weather. I have since moved my charger indoors where we have room temperature charging all the time. My brother-in-law who lives in Madison Wisconsin failed to tell me that that was it important.

BBSHD 46T Stock Steel Chainring
I purchased my first Luna product BBSHD (1500W version) from Luna Cycle about a year and a half ago with little knowledge of what I needed/ wanted. Luna Chat support was there to help me purchase there right kit to fit my build and offered helpful suggestions on planning ahead for more power (52v)!
I recently upgraded to the Ludicrous controller for my BBHSD and am loving the power, reliability, and how silent the motor is. It puts a smile on the face of whoever throws a leg over the bike. Three family members are getting electric bikes from Luna after trying mine.
All in all, I've had nothing but positive experiences with Luna Cycle as a company and Eric Hicks as a person.

PACKS: 52V CARBON SHARK PF
This has been a fantastic product for me.
I am 62 yrs old and I use the motor mostly to allow me to ride in and out of the valley I live in near Portland. Was always bothered by putting my bike in the truck, driving it over the hills. No problem now, and I still get a very nice work out using pedal assist. When I get over the hills, I can turn the unit off and have a nice ride with no power. On the way home, I just up the power assist and comfortably pedal over the hills.

Luna 750c Full Color Display for BBDHD and BBS02
I was skeptical at first to buy a electric motor for my bikes when I have two perfectly good legs. Now I can only think about how I should have bought a motor sooner. Extends the range of any ride and make them that much more fun

Bafang BBSHD Mid Drive Ebike Kit
I started building this Ebike last year with the idea of accessing the high country for backcountry skiing. The bike is so much fun to ride in the snow that it has become an new sport which competes with sling in in the winter and keeps me in shape during the summer. All parts were supplied by Luna Cycle for the Ebike build and the BBSHD kits performed perfectly.

Diamondback Overdrive 29r + BBSHD 73mm + 52v 20ah triangle Review:
My Objective: build an electric bicycle to assist in hunting deer and pigs in California using primarily, gated Forest Service Roads and trails for access to prime hunting spots. It would also be nice to attach my two wheeled cart to the bike for extracting the game I harvest.
My History: I have a hybrid street / mountain bike that I have used occasionally, over the last 20 years for the same purpose. Some of the hills I had to climb were a killer and I always wanted to get another 10 miles in. I’m 71 years old, weigh 170 lbs. carry a 20 lb. pack and a 10 lb. rifle. A loaded cart would weigh 150 lbs. I was thinking about a hub motor; after chatting with a Luna consultant, he said do a BBSHD and review all the chatter on line.
Now that the project was morphing from a $1,000 effort to a $2,000 one, I decided to get a real mountain bike with disk brakes. The cheapest bike seemed to be the DiamondBack so I focused on the DiamondBack Electric Bike Forum reviews. This was my first experience and did not want to make a $2500 mistake. In this review I will focus on my deviations from the others and how things look after 700 miles, 75% on forest service and logging roads, 20% trails, 5% paved roads.
Materials: May 2017
BBShd on a DiamondBack Overdrive 29R 20” Large frame with mechanical disk brakes $720
bottom bracket is 73mm maybe 74mm
30T front sprocket. (Old Middle sprocket was 32T)
Left thumb throttle
Left brake cut off switch (Cable Brake)
Luna Cycle “kit” had just about everything needed. I added lots of ties and JB Weld putty and a few tools
1 x TRIANGLE 52v Samsung INR18650 25r 20ah HIGH POWER w/ spot tied Triangle Bag:
1 x Luna Mighty Mini BBShd 30 Tooth Chain Ring Anodized Black $55.95
1 x Bafang BBSHD Mid Drive Ebike Kit (off road programming), Bottom Bracket Size: 68-73mm (Standard), Luna 750c full color display, Left Thumb Throttle $10.00, Bafang Brake Handles with Built-in Ebrake cut off, 52V Advanced 300W Ebike Charger $79.95 = $770.00
Grand Total: about $2,400 including the bike
Battery pack controller failed caused by the pack banging against the seat upright. After replacing the BMS I put high density foam between the frame and battery. Replaced brake pads at about 650 miles. With so much power, replaced stock rear tire with a CST Rock Hawk Wire Bead Tire, 29-Inch x 2.25. The heaver lugs are holding up well, also added thorn resistant tubes. Front tire is fine. I have 2 rechargeable head lights for early predawn rides. I use duct tape on my electrical connections inside the battery bag to make sure they don’t come apart. Battery bag is showing signs of wear. The Velcro bag may be the better choice. Chain is holding up well, at .75 now. I take good care of the chain. The 750c display gets covered in dust and mud so it is scratched up now from wiping off the dirt. Gorilla glass would be a good idea. I was on an OHV rock crawling trail racing the rock crawlers – the bike is faster but the pounding is hard on bike and rider – bent the rear sprocket so replaced with an 11-34T rather than the 32T. Using the 34T I can climb a 60 degree, 500 foot long incline with a fairly fresh battery. There is a power difference between 48 and 56 volts. The 52 volt battery was a good choice.
Performance is great. I’ve taken the battery down to 45 volts so not sure when it will cut out. I spend most of my time in the 26T gear. This gives 7 to 13 mph using 0 to 500 watts and twice that using the thumb throttle and 1600 watts. Definitely glad I got the new mountain bike with disk brakes. Going 15 miles back into the countryside causes some anxiety as a failure that far in would be a bummer. The controller failure was a 5 mile peddle out. Very glad I consulted with Luna to determine what set up would best serve me before building. Would like to know how long I should expect the BBSHD to last.

Luna 750c Full Color Display for BBDHD and BBS02
1500w BBSHD was the correct decision to be made for this bike, especially due to it being a FS frame. This bike has near perfect balance/curb weight.
I wish I could have fitted a 14x8 pack in the triangle, next build will be a 27.5"x21" Large frame (this is 26"x17" small frame).
I put 3473km on this bike from 2nd week of May '17 to Dec '17... No problems with the motor, my battery build or electronics, abet 1 issue. The shift sensor is subject to cutting out on hard jumps the sustain a long travel in the rear suspension. This is due to the shift cable moving the magnet in the sensor, it is not a fault of the sensor itself as the sensor was placed on the rear frame. Changing the location of the sensor will rectify this issue.
I tuned this down from 73kph to 50kph ... Fast enough for me on hard pack/pea gravel trails and I get longer battery life.
Enough power to go up stairs and mount sidewalks from the road, 200mm (8") suspension helps soften all the bumps. The motor has never hung up on me other than having to traverse some deadfall. A bash guard would be nice on this bike.
Use a torque wrench to tighten the crank bolts, use blue LocTite, you won't have a problem with them loosening on you. If you ride hard, do jumps and bash about, you will want to step on the wrench when tightening the motor to the frame, mine was banging about due to me being delicat when tightening the motor to the bike.
