I love my BBSHD because of the power I can control. I have programmed it to only use 20Amps and usually only run it at half that again, that's what I want of my electric bike the ability to apply as much power when and where i like.

I ordered a pre-built bike. Great parts for an unbeatable price. Even though I never received the frog lights I ordered.
My advice is to make sure you have a local bike shop that is willing to dial everything in if you're not comfortable doing it yourself, as the bike was assembled sloppily.
Overall, I'm extremely happy with my purchase.

I love my experiences with Luna Cycle.....if you follow their directions and you get a mongoose dolomite fat bike......you can have a similar experience!....you must get the 3000w cyclone electric motor from Luna Cycle and the 60volts battery and you can do 45mph......ALL DAY LONG!.......just do as they say and the boulevard awaits!

It been a great set up for me it will take any were I won,t to go. I have a lot of hills were I am at. I can go 15 to 20 miles a day and it only takes about 3 hours to charge up.

Reverend Iggy was a challenge. Being an american bottom bracket Felt steel frame there were clearance issues ( severe ) with the motor case frame interface. At the time my only recourse was to grind out metal ( bout 2.5mm ) off the motor case to make the motor slide into place. Contacting Luna they had a picture to me in about an hour showing me EXACTLY what I needed to know about the metal thickness in that area and I was able to safely procede. They now have ( under BBSHD PARTS ) eccentric American BB parts to make grinding no longer necessary. Thanks Luna Cycles! My lectreic lunatic beach cruiser is fantastic and even a great commuter.

I have found that the Luna Cycle E-bike motors enable one to go to places, and start adventures that weren't possible before. The E-bike motors are quite amazing in function and dependability. On this trip I was able to ride 18 miles round trip, up 1700 vertical feet, carrying 60 pounds in my trailer. Being 64 years old, I wouldn't be able to even think of a trip like this without the Luna Cycle Motors. Thank you Luna Cycle!

I've put a Bafang with 1500w and it's simple a hot rod as the name on it... very satified...

Thought and studied long and hard before ordering this kit. Wanted economical purchase of course, but more importantly wanted reliability and value. Have not been disappointed. Luna, their staff, and blogs have been an invaluable resource in deciding, installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining the Bafang BBSO2B. Wish I could say it was totally trouble free, but the little problems I encountered were mostly of my own making and with Luna's help and particularly access to their forums, were quickly solved.

I have changed the charge connection from a barrel to an XT60. Also adjusted (bent) the battery contact clips, and added two velcro straps around the battery and mounting cradle to guarantee a tight, constant electrical connection.

To date, Dec 16, 2017 I have covered well over 7000 km without any mechanical problems. It does what I want in an e-assist system. I have customized the PAS setttings to match what I want, with the levels 1 thru 4 spaced closer than most. I generally run in L2 drawing about 50W, using L3 - 90W,or L4 -150w when I have a heavier head wind. I rarely use higher and the throttle I use frequently when crossing intersection, or a short acceleration up a hill. L1 I use when just tooling along at a slower speed on more crowded walks and trails.



I run mostly on paved asphalt trails and around subdivisions. This winter they are pretty level with just a couple steep hills when I head over an inland waterway bridge. I generally travel at 15 to 25 kph depending on a number of factors. My route covers around 50 km most days. I have never run out of battery (80 + km one day) and generally have 47-48V charge left showing. I recharge daily on low setting to 80 or 90%. My battery gauge shows 53.1v when I take it off the charger

The BBS02 has expanded the comfort and "fun factor" with my recumbent trike. My knees are never sore.

The Luna controller for my e-bike performs flawlessly, even on a cold winter day.

This has become the perfect marriage with the BBSHD and my bike. Glad I went with the hot rod version and upgraded the front sprocket to the aluminum model.
I changed my gear shifting cable to a superior teflon coated cable to minimize friction though the gear shift sensor. This illuminated any delayed behaviour on the sensor due to stiff cable sliding. An easy unexpensive solution upgrade.
I was amazed how quickly I received my BBSHD kit once I placed my order and with the assistance of some UTUBE videos on mounting the BBSHD how quickly I had it all installed and operating.
I am having the time of my life with my bike now and am riding everywhere from streets to mountain trails throughout our Okanagan Valley in my home city of Kelowna.
This is just a blast and I cannot say enough good things about theBBSHD 1000watt package.
My car is used about two thirds less now through Spring, Summer, and Fall.

The build was very easy, I took my time and spent about 4 hours all in. In your cost/planning don't forget the shifter ( for those pesky brake/shifter combos) that you will need before the first ride. My build used the Side Shark battery due to the small triangle, a bit smaller in AH than the regular Shark but fits. New bottle holder boss's had to be added to accept the battery base, but everything is solid now.
Double check everything around the bottom bracket and pedals. My second ride on a remote trail was a near disaster when a pedal came off (funny now - but not then).
This build gets to 30 mph pretty easily, if I am easy on the speed and pedal a little bit I get 20 25 miles per charge on the smaller battery.
