My Mom lives out on a ranch & it seems to work in most places in the house but does not reach very far outside of the house - not as far as was advertised but it will be better than not having any fall alert.

Hi - thanks for your note. The button range on the system your mom has is up to a max of 1,000 feet from the base unit. That range can be impacted by terrain, building materials, etc. Customer Service can help you perform a "range test" to see exactly how far the button will reach (you need two people to do this - one to go outside with the button, one to listen at the base console to hear it beep). You can also try positioning the console in a different area of the house if possible. Please call 877-913-3680 and we can walk you through it - thanks!
