Spectrum™ Sound Deadening Spray Kits
I went back and forth with what type of product it and material I wanted to use on my project. After some research I decided to go with a spray on from Second Skin. So far I couldn’t be happier with my choice. Applying it is super easy, just cover up what you don’t want over spray on. I also like how I can get the product into tight places where a roll on would be hard to apply. Clean up is so easy that saying easy doesn’t describe how easy it is to clean up.

Mega Zorbe™ - Hydrophobic Melamine Foam
High frequency from electric motor and gears not dampened much at all. Adhesive not sticking well on vertical or upside down surfaces.
UPDATE: had to buy and use spray adhesive 3M 90 to stick two layers of foam together. So far it’s holding up. Sound mitigation TBD.

Thanks for discussing the issue. When layering Mega Zorbe sheets, you need to use the non-adhesive and use our spray adhesive (or 3M90) to stack them. The peel n stick backing version does not stick to the hydrophobic process on the Mega Zorbe, a spray adhesive needs to be used. We also offer it as Mega Zorbe Pro in 1" and 2" thickness to avoid layers.

Luxury Liner Pro™ MLV + Foam Auto Sound Barrier Sheets
I used three rolls of luxury liner pro split between the hatch area and front floorboard in my mk6 GTI. It was laid overtop of sound deadener (applied to entire vehicle). Even though it was mainly horizontal surfaces, I used spray adhesive to keep it in place. There is a vast difference in road noise. I did not do any before/after tests for dbs or temperature, but it seems to be effective for the temperature insulation as well. Once I get some more money saved, I plan to continue laying the LLP where my rear seat was as well as in the doors.

My wife's new 2023 Durango R/T Tow & Go is a fantastic vehicle with an incredible factory exhaust system, but due to having no spare tire and no insulation under the rear storage compartment carpet, the exhaust levels in the cabin can be a bit much for daily driving. So enter Second Skin CLD and MLV+CCF! I've done other vehicles with Second Skin products, so I knew it would be the solution here. I gutted the 3rd row and rear compartment area, and treated the floor and sides with Damplifier as well as Luxury Liner Pro. This worked perfectly and as expected. The deep tone of the excellent Tow & Go exhaust system is still heard and felt in the vehicle, but it is now attenuated just enough to be enjoyable without fatiguing over time. And ... all of the higher pitch frequencies are gone making it a much more refined tone in the cabin. All of this without changing the aggressive exterior tone, which has to be one of the best OEM exhaust systems ever made!

The damplifier pro went on great! Big project though. Takes a lot of time. The mlv was kind of a pain. Hard to get some trim and seats back in since it’s so thick. Not too bad cutting though and has a decent amount of flex to it. It’s really difficult to get into right areas. Was able to manage just broke a lot of clips.

Fantastic Frame™ Soundproof Window Inserts
These windows only blocked around 20%-50% of the sound coming through them. We installed as instructed and none of them fit snuggly in their spots. Lots of gaps regardless of the many measurements we took for the fitting. The quality of the windows are disappointing considering their cost. I reach out to both my sales person and customer support about this and was ignored on both fronts.

If the window inserts do not fit snugly, that will definitely reduce performance. You will need to do the field adjustments we discussed on the phone to get to that 50%+ noise reduction.

I got my shipment a few days ahead of schedule, great start to my project!
First impressions were it smelled strongly of ammonia, not a bad thing but caught me off guard, and you can’t smell it after application anyway, and that it seemed much more beefy than its size would imply, A+!
During my install, I found it to be extremely easy to work with, I didn’t need to heat it up for it to be pliable, just needed a curved, blunt object to shove it into the little nooks and crannies, and it went in easy and did NOT want to come off once applied, another A+!
Unfortunately, I couldn’t use all of my shipment as I made a mistake in thinking my doors were not sound treated when in fact they were, so I have several sheets left over to do the rest of the floor and trunk as I have more time, but honestly? I’ve put enough in there to make a huge difference already, and adding to it will only make it that much better.
