Ambient Weather WS-5000 Ultrasonic Professional Smart Weather Station & Thermo Hygrometer
I have struggled for over 15 years with Oregon Scientifics weather stations. The equipment worked when new but did not age well, and when problems developed their support was lacking. The Ambient Weather WS-5000 was easy to setup and is performing beyond my expectations. I have not needed support so cannot comment on that.

We received a smart weather station for Christmas 2019 and have enjoyed it, so we bought one for our son-in-law this year. We call him Inspector Gadget because he loves new devices. He immediately set his up and has thanked us several times for the gift. Thank you, in return.

i gave it a 5 because it works perfectly although i have not yet set it up on my pc i guess i am not nerdy enough i can see though why your model with no moving parts might do better in some weather like freezing rain thank you for a great weather station

So far so good, seems to be measuring all the weather indexies within correct range. Since we are experiencing a drought here in the SW, the rain gauge has had little to measure except for one day which seemed to be correct. I sometimes compare my station's results or real time readings against other Ambient stations in my area as well as other different stations not Ambient. Mine seems to be within reasonable range. All the indexes seem to be reporting within same
range, except the barometer. It seems a bit off when predicting rain or other weather that does not materialize. But I guess, like all weather guessers, that's to be expected. Hope it continues operating well as it has, very hot temps are expected again this summer.

The unit was super easy to set up and the design is far superior to the WS1200 I owned before.

Programming additional sensors was fairly easy to navigate to but wish I could connect a Bluetooth keyboard to make adding sensor descriptions even easier.

I like it but there is no listing for the WS-50”0 so way to put it on Wunderground. Also battery power supply for anemometer/temp is seriously inadequate for roof mounting. John Miller

Upgraded to the WS5000 from the WS2080 which I used for over a decade. I had numerous glitches with consoles and computers over the years with the 2080 and it was time to move on. The best thing about the 5000 is that it reports to the various weather services without the need for a separate computer or data logger. The ultrasonic anemometer is also much more accurate. If you decide to add the lightning detector make sure to upgrade firmware on both the unit and Wi-Fi or you may no longer be reporting to weather underground and several other services.

I had a accurite system before but due to poor customer service I switched and have a ambient weather system now. I am very satisfied!!!

I love it. My only complaint is about using rechargeable batteries in the inside AQ sensor. The red bars show low battery within 24-36 hrs of installation and it remains red until it completely dies about 7-12+ days later. It isn't a problem now that I know how it works but no one at A.W. could tell me that in 4 calls I made and I almost returned it for being defective. Why not put a solar sensor in that like in the outdoor AQ sensor?

I wish there were a pressure trend graphic. There actually might be one but the manual is quite large. I haven't found it yet. Other than that its great!

I have had several personal weather stations in the past 25 years and I am very pleased with the features, quality and price of the WS-5000. The installation and setup was easy and all the information I desire is beautifully displayed on the color console.

Good device. Setup a little tricky to start display panel especially on your web site where I probably have 3 devices partially registered and no way to delete the useless ones.
Wind direction vane is far too sensitive to local wind change direction - is there any way to slow it down ?
I would like to be able to get a weekly/monthly file dump of all my weather data - is this possible ?

the functionality is great. The only complaint is the readability of the screen. Glare is a real problem.

Station is the perfect answer for our weather information needs in the country. Access for data is easy via the website. I am disappointed about the number of sensor connections and the difficulty to program in new sensors to the unit that are not ambient devices. The IFTTT process leaves a lot to be desired. Its difficult and not user friendly to use (almost impossible actually). Need something simpler to connect other devices to the station data stream. IFTTT is not the answer. A programming process that follows more normal languages that are available. (python, processing, ardunio etc). For serious programmers IFTTT is junk.
