Love this system easy to set up accurate and looks cool

Absolutely love this unit, it is very handy to be able to see current conditions at the click of a button. Highly recommended

Pros: WS-5000 has almost everything I wanted/expected. The installation went smoothly. Worked out of the box. The display is best of any weather station I've had. No moving parts is important for my situation. Love it.

Cons: I'm a 79 year old geezer. My vision is limited and failing. While the screen (black background) works best for me, size is an issue. I need a much larger screen. I wish there was either a larger one, or a way I could use an iPad for a display.

I have been running this device for several weeks and it has worked flawlessly so far. For the amount of information that it provides, it is a much better value than something you might get at a local orange big box store, the last one of which I bought was defective out of the box.

I had operated a LaCrosse station for many years, but it was becoming a pain to maintain batteries and the links between the anemometer, rain gauge and the temperature sensor. While the computer link was from time to time a useless nonrecording nuisance. I searched for quite some time for a device that would allow a connection to Weather Underground and an easier way of accessing the data from a remote location when I was away from home. The WS-2000 looked like something that would fulfill my needs including a second remote temperature and moisture monitor for a solar wood drying kiln. I was not disappointed in the equipment and was particularly impressed with the ease of set-up. The station has not yet been installed on the mast of my radio antenna, because of snow conditions on my roof and the cold weather. So far in its temporary ground level location it has performed flawlessly. Great equipment, good asset to my business and the second thermal sensor is operating as expected. See KPASTMAR11 on W.U.

Performs as advertised and at great value.

I've been looking to get a weather station for several years and finally took the plunge with the WS-5000. Love it! I have several additional temperature sensors setup as well as a leak detector, indoor and outdoor air quality sensors. The main weather display is excellent and has all the info I want to see.

Would prefer simple connection to personal computer with suitable software to store information, etc. The system performs well and i have purchased a system for my son and son-in-law.

Easy installation,easy setup. I have had other weather stations in the past. The ambient system is the best I've seen and the price range is affordable.

Decent and reliable instrument.

When I bought it I thought it would link with Alexis, but it doesn't, so slightly disappointed, but it does have a decent app that connects. So its satisfactory, but being able to work with Alexa would have gotten 5 stars

What I like: better WiFi connectivity than previous models. Very much easy to read colorful display. Simple to
Install outdoor Sensors. More sensitive outdoor sensors.

What I don’t like: difficult to set up , one indoor sensor did not work but they replaced it for free quickly, antiquated set up with right Andy left and up and down push buttons. Could be easier to set up on an app. Maybe the future will provide that. Price is a little high for the unit.
Overall I would give it av4.5 but that was not a choice.
I hope in the future they would simplify the setup and interaction.

Very nice package. Easy to set up and activate with the weather services. Ultrasonic wind speed and direction is quite accurate. I did note a difference between the Ambient rain gauge and my Davis gauge. A great value compared to Davis.

Have since added a ws2902B console and joined Ambient weather. net and wunderground. Absolutely love it, was long time acurite user the Ambient weather station is far superior!

I’ve had several less expensive weather stations and did not realize what a difference a little extra money will get you. I’ve had the WS-2902C and could not be happier. The connection between the station and the base unit is strong even though they are separated by about 50 yards. The Ambient Dashboard cannot be beat.

It works great, really easy to set up, and the old style weather station is sufficient!

Had an AccuRite for about 5 years before this ambient weather. This setup was much easier... no need to calibrate the rain guage. Also the ambient is much more accurate especially on temperature since this ambient weather temp agrees with local forecast and other private weather stations in the area and the accurite did not. And the ambient has fantastic data monitoring and management thru the app that wasn't available with accurate. Fantastic unit!

Easy installation and setup to weather underground. I want a particulate sensor but they are still not in stock

I have never owned a weather station myself but I have been around them for years. So, technically I can only speak for the WS-5000 from a beginners point of view. So far this is a very nice weather station. It was not complicated to set up. I read all the instructions first and planned my attack with mother nature like precision. Everything went smoothly on the first try. I had no issues getting my WiFi connected or any of the other accessories, rain gauge, thermometers, etc. I mounted mine on a 2 inch pole on the side of my shed. Very nice built-in bubble level. It is about 25ft in the air. My display is approximately 50ft from the weather station and I have no connection issues from the main unit or the rain gauge. I have 3 additional thermometers connected, shed, attic and garage. There are no issues with the connection to them, very strong signals. All are going thru at least one wall, the shed is thru two walls and still has a super strong connection. I did purchase the heater power supply with a 65ft cord on it. We get ice and snow where I am at. The heater is for the ultrasonic wind. It keeps ice and snow from forming/staying on the ultrasonic part of the main unit. I can testify that it does work because we had plenty of ice and snow this year and neither the ice nor snow attached to the ultrasonic part of the unit. Yes, snow did pile on top and the ice did form on the top and sides but it did not effect the wind speed. As with mechanical wind vanes and wind speed cups, they would have frozen in place with the ice. At the moment the only downside to the snow being on top would be a slight degradation of the UV and Solar radiation readings, as those sensors are on the top part of the main unit, snow somewhat blocks the sunlight/daylight from getting to them. The rain gauge is the largest I have seen. I did purchase the bird spikes for it. It was a little tedious putting them on so read the bird spike instructions first as it is just a little confusing because at the time I purchased my unit, they did not have a single kit for this rain gauge. I received two kits made for a unit like the WS-2000 which has a smaller rain gauge. One note: watch the positioning of the rubber pieces that hold the spikes. Make sure the holes are all pointing up. The rain guage is very accurate compared to other rain gauges in my area, airport and NWS. The display is nice and there is a lot of information on it. Too much to get into for a review. It is about the size of a tablet, for reference. I did connect mine to ambient.net and weather underground. My neighbors love having access to weather right in their own back yard. There is a link that you can get on ambient weather to share your device with others but it has to be linked to ambient Weather.net. You can choose to show or Not show your inside conditions. I did Not share my inside conditions because who else would care about my inside conditions but me. The one and only downside to this unit that I can find right now is the sun did make my temperature about 5 degrees higher when it hit the unit. It was about 12 degrees outside when this happened. I have another sensor in the shade that reported 12 degrees, airport reported 12 and the local weather station was reporting 11. Once the sun came up and hit the unit it shot up to 18 degrees within a minute. I just happened to be looking at the display when this happened. Hopefully it doesn't happen in the summer. The unit updates every 5 seconds, ambient weather.net, every 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 minutes, your choice. I did mine every minute.
I do recommend this weather station. It seems to be more accurate that other weather stations that I have seen. This is a super unit for you if you want your own back yard weather.
